Comparing Spiked and Spikeless Golf

Mazin Samona owns and operates Wild Bill’s Tobacco, a western-themed tobacco and e-cigarette retail shop that operates more than 120 stores in three states. The stores pride themselves on their knowledgeable staff and high quality customer service. When away from work, Mazin Samona likes spending time with his family, watching movies, and traveling. He also likes to play golf.

Aside from selecting golf clubs, another consideration for golfers is buying the right golf shoes. Golf shoes are important because they provide traction and a stable footing throughout the golf swing. Golfers can choose between spiked or spikeless golf shoes.

For maximum traction, especially on wet or inclined terrain, spikes are recommended. Modern spiked golf shoes are equipped with plastic cleats that are attached to the outsole. They are designed to grip grassy surfaces but are also designed to let go easily. Over time, they will weaken and snap off, at which point replacement spikes should be installed.

Golfers who don’t want the trouble of attaching spikes to their shoes can play with spikeless golf shoes. These shoes have outsoles that have protruding lugs. A convenience of these shoes is that they can be worn off the golf course. The lugs will wear out over time, however, and once they do the entire shoe has to be replaced.
